The next club committee meeting will be at Maroochydore High School at 7pm next Thursday, October 2^nd.

 

 

 

The club presentation dinner will be held at the Waterfront Hotel on Friday October 24^th. Details are being finalised and will be published shortly. Members $35, non-members $40, children $20.

 

 

 

The last Saturday morning session is this weekend at Claymore road starting at 8am.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

October 12^th from 3pm there will be a working bee at Caboolture velodrome to remove the final issue CQ has with the track, paving the way for Merv’s Junior Open track carnival on November 15^th. This event already has 2 sponsors on board but more support for the juniors would be well received. Contact Merv if you would like to assist with sponsorship. Contact Big Mike if you can help in any way at the working bee.

 

The track season is about to start. The track sub-committee will be speaking to some key individuals from other clubs over the next couple of weeks and there will then be at least 4, up to possibly 9 events being run at Caboolture between November and March.

 

Wednesday nights are hotting up at Caboolture velodrome and with Chandler out of action there’s a big group of riders preparing for a trip to Sydney for the Masters Worlds in October and they are in full flight. Lights go on at 6:30pm. Contact Ross Blumel on 0418871105 or Dave Weir on 0405450624 for further details or if you need a track bike.

Last weekend Merv McDonald’s invaluable contribution to the club reached a new pinnacle with 6 teams of his juniors competing in the Queensland Team Time Trial Championships at Laidley. Those 6 teams came away from the weekend with 3 gold and 1 bronze medal. The other 2 teams also put in strong performances finishing 4^th and 6^th in their respective divisions.

 

The club also fielded 2 adult teams resulting in a silver medal in the Masters Men’s division 4/5 for the team of Mark Bown, David Wighton, Ross Blumel and David Gillow, a welcome improvement on last year’s 4^th place where they missed a medal by less than 10 seconds.

 

So Rory’s gold trumps Mark’s silver. Similarly, Dave Gillow’s silver is overshadowed by Shara’s gold in the Queensland Individual Time Trial Championship in July. Sorry gents, keep trying.
